First and foremost, always keep Neon Tetras in groups of at least six. They are schooling fish and feel most secure and exhibit their best colors when they are part of a larger group. The more Neon Tetras you have, the more they will display their natural, synchronized swimming behavior, which is a delight to watch. When setting up their tank, aim for at least 10 gallons, although a larger tank is preferable, especially as it allows for better water stability and more space for the fish to swim.

Water quality is critical for Neon Tetras. They prefer soft, slightly acidic water with a pH between 6.0 and 7.0 and a temperature range of 70°F to 81°F (21°C to 27°C). To maintain these conditions, perform regular water changes—about 25% every week—and monitor water parameters closely.
